To make up for my lack of recent blogging I am going to choose some photos which sum up the last few weeks/ months. A more difficult task than I expected! We've been pretty busy exploring our new home so there are many photos of new places. Too hard to choose a few but here is my attempt.
1. Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival. Me and Bea doing a classic korean pose.
2. Party for the Royal Wedding! Live screening at my apartment then off downtown in fancy dress. Pretty sure fancu dress is not well thought of here, we got some funny looks!
3. Some work aswell!
4. Busan- Haeundae Beach! Crazy weekend staying at a Jinjilbang- korean spa you can sleep in. We turned up at 5am (completely normal for these spas!) got given night wear and blankets and shown a space to sleep on the floor, in a massive room full of people! In the morning we enjoyed the spa- naked! All spas require full nudity. Interesting but you actually forget you are naked after a while. Even in the outdoor jaccuzi. We then spent the day on the beach and had our photo taken with these interesting gentlemen.
5. Birthday weekend- too hard to choose one photo so here are a few!
First one is my birthday t-shirt made by Jaclyn and her friend Nicole which says 'Ride the Wave' on the front and SD25 on the back. We say 'Ride the wave' when we get over excited about Korea. Korean wave! Geeks! SD25 is a pun on the korean shop GS25.
The Lotus Lantern Festival. Celebrating Buddha's birthday on my birthday in Seoul. Magical! Especially loved when korean's in traditional clothes (hanbok) pulled us into their celebration so that we ended up dancing and doing the conga.
The next day me and Rebecca went to Bukchon Hanok village which contains loads of korean traditional houses called Hanoks which are still lived in. This is a picture of the rooftops of part of the village!
The best view!
We then went to a Chungkokyeong palace and played dress up. Fetching!
Lastly, teacher's day in Korea was fun! We got given a fresh flower corsage in the morning and then I received lots of sweet letters from students before the students went home early. My favourite comment from a letter was 'your voice is very huskey. Its wonderful'. Not sure whether this is a compliment in Korea or not!
Expect more frequent updates from now on!
